Account Executive III
About the role
The Academic Account Executive, based in the San Diego area, plays a key role in driving sales growth and supporting Bio-Rad’s life science product portfolio. Each day begins with reviewing inbound communications, responding to quote requests, and updating the opportunity pipeline in Salesforce with call notes, timelines, and next steps. Field activities include engaging with current customers to advance opportunities, ensuring consumables are in place to support workflows, and proactively identifying new prospects through referrals and outreach.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic territory plan to drive adoption of Bio-Rad’s Genomics and Proteomics solutions including ddPCR, qPCR, Imaging, Western Blot and Chromatography workflows to achieve or exceed sales targets.
- Engage directly with academic customers through regular on-site visits to advance active opportunities.
- Demonstrate, sell and support customers on Bio-Rad’s diverse line of consumables and small equipment.
- Build and manage a healthy sales funnel by identifying, nurturing, and growing opportunities, with consistent CRM updates and accurate forecasting.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Account Executives, Field Application Specialists, and Marketing to expand Bio-Rad’s footprint and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle and in their ongoing partnership with Bio-Rad.
- Maintain strong communication and technical fluency, including product knowledge, demonstration skills, and timely reporting to leadership on activities, trends, and customer needs.
Requirements
- Education: BA/BS (required) MS/PhD (preferred)
- Work Experience: 8 years of sales experience with a strong focus on selling both Genomics and/or Proteomics capital equipment & consumables portfolios preferred. Relevant research experience can replace sales experience. Previous experience selling to academic and government customers preferred.
- Candidates must demonstrate scientific understanding and fluency in the areas we serve with our product portfolio.
- Excellent communication & presentation skills (Verbal & Written).
- Highly motivated with a demonstrated record of success.
Qualifications
- Location: This position covers the California region. The individual must live within a geography that allows them to visit customers on-site on a daily basis.

Pay
The estimated base salary range for this position is $121,200 to $166,700 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
Schedule
This position is eligible for quarterly commission based on assigned sales quotas.
