About the Role
The Academic Success Coach plays a central role in advancing student retention, persistence, and degree completion within Student Support Services (SSS), part of Access & Opportunity Programs at SUNY Plattsburgh. This position reports to the Director of Student Support Services and is a key member of an integrated college success team.
You will provide individual academic and personal support to an assigned group of low-income and first-generation college students, helping them navigate their collegiate experience from admission through graduation.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with academic progress, course advisement, financial literacy, time management, study skills, and test-taking strategies.
- Coach and collaborate with students to ensure they meet their optimal potential.
- Support a diverse group of learners with an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity, inclusion, and equity-minded practices.
- Work as part of the Enrollment and Student Success division to positively influence student health, safety, and well-being.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must demonstrate a passion for helping others succeed and an understanding of the challenges faced by low-income and first-generation college students.
