About the role

The Department of Global Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for two (2) full-time academic professional track (non-tenure) positions in Spanish language with a 9-month academic appointment beginning in fall 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Teach four (4) courses per semester in Spanish language, primarily in the fields of Spanish for the Professions, Spanish for Heritage Speakers, and Translation and Interpreting, from the beginning to the advanced level.
  • Contribute to program building in Spanish language and provide academic service, in a manner consistent with their appointment, to the mission of the department and university.
  • Depending on program needs, there may also be opportunities to develop and/or teach pertinent additional courses.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Spanish or a closely related discipline, or a master's level degree appropriate for the field in which the faculty member will teach and significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of teaching Spanish at the college level or in a related field to be considered for a Lecturer appointment.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of teaching Spanish at the college level or in a related field to be considered for a Senior Lecturer appointment; candidates with 10 years or more preferred.
