About the role

Texas A&M University College of Nursing invites applications for a full-time, academic professional track (non-tenure) faculty position at our McAllen, Texas campus. The successful candidate will have experience in academic nursing education. Responsibilities include teaching in our nationally ranked BSN program.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching: Lecturers maintain high standards in classroom, clinical, simulation, and online instruction. Responsibilities include preparing and revising course materials and assessments that foster student learning, selecting and managing high-quality clinical and simulation experiences, and providing competent clinical supervision. Faculty also evaluate student performance, provide academic advising and mentoring, maintain posted office hours, and collaborate and mentor faculty colleagues. Additionally, faculty are expected to develop new courses consistent with curricular and accreditation standards and support ongoing academic program accreditation efforts.
  • Service: Service activities for Lecturers may include active participation on college or university committees, involvement in accreditation or self-study initiatives, advising student organizations, and engaging in clinical practice where appropriate. Faculty are also expected to collaborate within the college community and contribute to initiatives that promote the College’s mission and excellence in nursing education.

Requirements

The anticipated start date is August 1, 2026.

Qualifications

  • Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and currently enrolled in a master’s degree in nursing program with at least 50% of coursework completed; or a BSN and a master’s degree in another field with appropriate graduate-level nursing coursework (e.g., advanced nursing practice, nursing education, nursing research, or clinical specialty courses).
  • Required Registrations, Certifications and Licenses: Candidate must be eligible for a Texas RN and/or APRN license depending upon credentials.

Skills

  • Experience providing clinical instruction at the baccalaureate level or higher
  • Two or more years of recent nursing practice experience
  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Master of Science in Nursing is preferred. Use of simulation in nursing education. Experience in one or more of the following areas: Community Health, Medical Surgical, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Mental Health Professional certification in nursing specialty area. Certification in simulation
