Description Of Duties/Essential Functions
Under the direction of the High School Principal at the Illinois School for the Deaf, performs highly specialized teaching duties at the high school level in academic areas; applies standard and special teaching methods and techniques in instructing students who are deaf or hard of hearing, some with secondary disabling conditions. Adapts methods to meet the needs of the type of students encountered; fosters discipline, good study habits and positive self-concept in the individual students being served. Utilizes sign language to communicate with students on a daily basis.
Minimum Requirements
Requires valid ISBE Type 10 teaching certificate in the area of Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Requires fluency in sign language at the appropriate SCPI level.
Work Hours & Location/Agency Contact
Work Hours: M-F; 8:05am - 3:00pm
Work Location: ISD High School (Algebra)
