Chippewa County is currently accepting applications for 911 Telecommunicators within the Sheriff’s Department. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly skilled Communications Center team providing emergency and non-emergency services to the communities of Chippewa County. All law enforcement, EMS, and fire agencies in the county are dispatched through this center, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: day (6:00 AM–6:00 PM) or night (6:00 PM–6:00 AM), including weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency call-ins
- Shift assignments based on staffing needs and managed through a seniority-based process
- Must be willing and able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency and non-emergency dispatch services for law enforcement, EMS, and fire agencies
- Use GPS and GIS data to locate county landmarks, roads, and businesses
- Respond calmly and think quickly in high-stress situations
- Serve the community and team members with professionalism and respect
Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment
- Valid driver’s license
- Time System Certification required within one (1) year of hire
Qualifications
- Previous emergency services dispatch experience preferred
- 911 training and experience in a 24/7 environment preferred
- CPR Certification preferred
- Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification preferred
