911 DISPATCH – TELECOMMUNICATOR

Chippewa County is currently accepting applications for a 911 Telecommunicator position within the Sheriff’s Department. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly skilled Communications Center team providing emergency and non-emergency services to the communities of Chippewa County. All law enforcement, EMS, and fire agencies within the county are dispatched through this center, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: day (6:00 am – 6:00 pm) or night (6:00 pm – 6:00 am), including weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency call-ins.
- Shift assignments are based on staffing needs and managed through a seniority-based process.
- Candidates must be willing to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency and non-emergency dispatch services for law enforcement, EMS, and fire agencies.
- Utilize GPS and GIS data to locate county landmarks, roads, and businesses.
- Respond calmly and efficiently in high-stress situations.
- Maintain professionalism and respect while serving the community and team members.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Time System Certification required within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous emergency services dispatch experience or 911 training.
- Experience working in a 24/7 environment.
- CPR Certification and Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification.
Pay
- Starting wage: $25.55 – $27.77 per hour, depending on qualifications.
- Maximum wage: $33.32 per hour.
- Night shift differential: Additional $1.00 per hour.
