Qualifications / Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff in a professional and courteous manner
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records and sensitive information
• Experience working in an educational setting or with at-risk populations preferred, but not required

Essential Performance Responsibilities

• Provides temporary counseling support under the direction of the Principal and/or Counselor Coordinator
• Affords assistance to students and parents with course selection and graduation-related questions
• Safeguards the maintenance and confidentiality of student records
• Affords support for student scheduling, schedule changes, and transcript updates as directed
• Assists with preparation and updates of Individual Graduation Plans under supervision
• Works with students individually or in small groups to address academic or attendance-related concerns
• Affords support for coordination of testing-related activities as assigned
• Affords support for coordination of parent-student conferences when requested
• Affords support for dissemination of postsecondary, career, and military information as directed
• Refers students to appropriate campus or community resources when needs exceed the scope of the substitute role
• Attends campus meetings or trainings as requested and appropriate to the assignment
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal, Counselor Coordinator, or Superintendent in support of campus operations
