2027 Spark Summer Intern - Civil/Environmental/Construction/Geotechnical Engineering
About the role
S&ME’s 2027 Spark Summer Internship Program is open to current students from a variety of educational backgrounds and career focus. Internship opportunities are available across our various Service Lines including Civil Engineering, Construction Services and Materials Testing, Environmental Services and Industrial Hygiene, Geotechnical Engineering, and Transportation Design-Build.
As part of the program you will work alongside experienced professional and technical employee-owners within your area of interest. You will be part of an intern cohort and will learn about all aspects of S&ME. The internship provides invaluable hands-on experience, access to technical experts across the company, and professional development to help you transition from campus to career and find success in our industry.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with professional and technical teams on real-world projects
- Participate in field work, site visits, and data collection as required by your service line
- Assist with drafting, modeling, analysis, and reporting under supervision
- Engage in cohort-based learning activities and professional development sessions
Requirements
- Enrolled in a related degree program (Civil, Environmental, Construction, or Geotechnical Engineering)
- Rising junior, senior, or graduate student preferred
- At least 18 years of age
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for technical roles
- Routine lifting up to 40–50 lbs may be required
- Out-of-town travel may be required
- Related experience and/or campus/community/work leadership experience preferred

Pay
Competitive pay based on experience for a twelve-week internship from May 2027 through August 2027.
