Interim .2 FTE Resource Teacher position at Shadow Mountain High School, immediately available.

Purpose

The Resource Teacher supports the instructional process by developing student success in academics (e.g., reading, writing, language, math) and skills. Responsibilities include lesson planning, delivering instruction, collaborating with staff and parents, and supervising students to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer subject-specific assessments to evaluate student competencies.
  • Advise parents/guardians on student progress, expectations, and methods for improvement.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and meet school improvement goals.
  • Counsel students or refer them to appropriate personnel for performance, health, or personal issues.
  • Demonstrate pedagogical approaches to engage learners and address individual student needs.
  • Differentiate classroom instruction to address individualized learning within established lesson plans.
  • Direct student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, or student workers to support classroom programs.
  • Instruct students to improve academic success through a defined course of study.
  • Manage student behavior to ensure a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Monitor students in classrooms, on campus, and during field trips for safety.
  • Participate in district, staff, and departmental meetings to gather and convey information.
  • Participate in PLC teams to review data and instructional practices.
  • Prepare written materials (e.g., grades, attendance records) to document student progress and meet requirements.
  • Report health and safety issues to administrators or appropriate agencies (e.g., fights, suspected abuse, behavioral concerns).
  • Respond to emergency situations and direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Respond to inquiries from teachers, parents, and administrators regarding instructional programs and student progress.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of the work unit.

Requirements

  • Skills in administering assessment instruments, operating office equipment, and using software applications for record-keeping.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instructional techniques, age-appropriate activities, child development stages, and behavioral management strategies.
  • Ability to schedule activities, gather and classify data, and work with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities, maintain confidentiality, and work flexible hours.
  • Problem-solving skills to analyze issues and create action plans.
  • Ability to establish constructive relationships, work as part of a team, and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a job-related area.
  • Arizona Teaching Certificate with appropriate core content area certification.
  • SEI Endorsement required.
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Criminal background clearance.
  • Job-related experience desired.

Work Environment

The role requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and fine finger dexterity. The job involves 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% standing, with exposure to temperature extremes and some risk of injury or illness.
