About the Role

The Teacher provides academic support to the instructional process with a focus on developing student success in core subjects (e.g., reading, writing, language, math) or specialized skills (e.g., art, music, physical education). Responsibilities include lesson planning, delivering instruction, collaborating with staff and parents, and ensuring a safe, effective learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer subject-specific assessments to evaluate student competencies.
• Communicate student progress to parents/guardians, including expectations, achievements, and strategies for improvement.
• Assess and provide feedback on student progress toward academic goals.
• Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and support school improvement plans.
• Counsel students or refer them to appropriate personnel for academic, behavioral, or personal support.
• Demonstrate engaging pedagogical approaches tailored to individual student needs.
• Differentiate instruction to address diverse learning styles within established lesson plans.
• Direct and supervise student teachers, assistants, volunteers, or student workers.
• Instruct students in academic subjects to enhance their success.
• Manage student behavior to maintain a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Monitor students in classrooms, on campus, and during field trips to ensure safety.
• Participate in district, staff, and departmental meetings to share and gather information.
• Engage in Professional Learning Community (PLC) teams to review data and instructional practices.
• Prepare and maintain records such as grades, attendance, and anecdotal notes to document student progress and meet requirements.
• Report health, safety, or behavioral concerns to administrators or appropriate agencies.
• Respond to emergencies and direct concerns to the proper personnel for resolution.
• Address inquiries from teachers, parents, and administrators regarding instructional programs and student progress.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of the work unit.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field.
• Arizona Teaching Certificate with appropriate core content area certification.
• Structured English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement.
• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Criminal background clearance.

Skills and Abilities

• Skills: Proficiency in administering assessment instruments, using office equipment and software, maintaining accurate records, and applying curriculum and instructional techniques.
• Knowledge: Understanding of curriculum standards, lesson plan requirements, child development stages, behavioral management strategies, and assessment techniques.

Work Environment

• Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; and fine finger dexterity.
• Typical work posture: 10% sitting, 40% walking, 50% standing.
• Exposure to temperature extremes and some risk of injury or illness.
• Works under limited supervision with standardized practices and methods.
