2026-2027 SY - Athletic Coach - Head Girls Basketball
About the role
This position is for a Head Girls Basketball Coach at Tse' Yi' Gai High School, with a contract length for the winter sport season. The salary range is $10,000.00. The coach will report to the athletic director and may supervise a staff of assistant coaches.
Responsibilities
The head coach will instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. The coach will also demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes. Additional responsibilities include:
- Organizing and supervising a total sports program
- Working with students interested in sports, providing necessary practice support and advice for a team to be successful
- Teaching and enforcing rules and regulations
- Upgrading knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation
Note that this role involves work on evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
To be qualified for this position, applicants must have the ability to organize and supervise a sports program, as well as previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport. The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and serve as a role model for student athletes.
Requirements
Applicants must have a 7-12 High School Diploma or equivalency and either hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License from the New Mexico Public Education Department. They must also complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association.
