Work Location: Ramah Elementary • Contract Length: Winter Sport

Minimum Salary: $2,500.00 • Maximum Salary: $2,500.00

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency
• Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7–12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department (application details)
• Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org)
• Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport

Responsibilities

• Organize and supervise a total sports program for 5th-grade girls basketball
• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success
• Demonstrate and teach behaviors that foster socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment
• Stay current with new theories and procedures pertinent to the sport through clinics, observations, and consultation
• Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport
• Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and principal
• Work evenings and weekends as required for practices and games

About the Role

The head coach reports to the athletic director and is evaluated in conjunction with the high school principals. The role requires on-site attendance and involves substantial knowledge of basketball’s technical aspects. The coach serves as a role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.
