Pay

Minimum Salary: $2,500.00
Maximum Salary: $2,500.00

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalency
• Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department (details)
• Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org)
• Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports)
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of basketball
• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training
• Demonstrate behaviors that foster socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment
• Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport
• Provide practice support and advice to ensure team success against opposing teams during the sports season
• Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation
• Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal
• Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions

Schedule

Evenings and weekends required for practices, games, and events.

About the Role

This position reports to the athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals. On-site attendance is mandatory. The goal is to work with 6th-grade girls interested in basketball, ensuring their development both as athletes and individuals.
