Pay

Minimum Salary: $4,000.00
Maximum Salary: $4,000.00

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalency
• Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department (application details)
• Completion of the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org)

Qualifications

• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program
• Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports)
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of basketball and a commitment to staying current with new theories and procedures
• Ability to serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instruction and actions

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success
• Promote character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes
• Upgrade coaching knowledge and skills through clinics, observations, and consultation
• Work with students interested in sports, providing practice support and advice for team success during the season
• Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport
• Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal

Schedule

Evenings and weekends required for practices, games, and events.

Work Environment

• On-site attendance is mandatory
• Reports to the athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals
