2026-2027 SY - Athletic Coach - C-Team Girls Basketball

Work Location: Thoreau High – Fall sport season contract.

Pay

$5,300.00 (fixed contract amount).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency.
• Must hold or be able to obtain a New Mexico Public Education Department Athletic Coaching License (7–12).
• Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association.
• Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of girls basketball and ability to stay current with new theories and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Organize and supervise the total girls basketball program.
• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success.
• Promote socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment.
• Serve as a positive role model through instruction and actions.
• Teach and enforce sport rules and regulations.
• Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and principals.
• Attend coaching clinics, observe other programs, and consult with peers to upgrade knowledge and skills.
• Work evenings and weekends as required by the practice and game schedule.

Reports To

Athletic director; final evaluation conducted in conjunction with the high school principals.
