2026-2027 Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship
The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for a tenure-ineligible Clinical Instructor position in the Cardiothoracic Imaging track, starting July 1, 2026.
About the role
The Cardiothoracic Imaging Fellowship includes a balanced combination of cardiovascular and thoracic imaging. This encompasses:
- Interpretation of CT and MRI studies of the cardiovascular system
- Hands-on experience in the acquisition of CT and MRI cardiac images for all indications, including stress testing and pediatric and adult congenital heart disease
- Thoracic imaging experience in conventional radiography, CT, and MRI of the chest, with a focus on pulmonary, mediastinal, and pleural pathology
- Opportunity to gain experience in thoracic image-guided procedures under US and CT guidance
The Clinical Instructor will actively participate in multi-disciplinary conferences with Cardiology, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Pulmonology, and Pathology, as well as daily teaching activities through interactions with residents, medical students, and clinical faculty. Academic time will be granted to pursue research projects.
The Department provides final reads to ED patients on a 24/7 basis, with optional overnight coverage performed from home by fellows. This includes subspecialty attending back-up as needed. Participation in this program bolsters income while promoting the maintenance and development of general radiology skills.
Qualifications
- MD or equivalent
- Successful completion of a residency in diagnostic radiology at an ACGME-accredited institution or a diagnostic radiology residency accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
