2026-2027 Musculoskeletal Imaging Fellowship

About the Role

The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging, Musculoskeletal Imaging Division (MSK) at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for multiple Clinical Instructor positions starting July 1, 2026. This one-year post-graduate training fellowship focuses on all aspects of MSK imaging, including:

• Cross-sectional and plain radiographic diagnostic work
• Image-guided procedures, such as pain management and spine injections
• Completion of one academic project (e.g., paper for publication, QI project, or education exhibit)

One hybrid position combines MSK (~80%) and clinical informatics (~20%) for candidates interested in an academic career or with aptitude in engineering/information technology.

Clinical responsibilities include supervised and graduated levels of unsupervised work. Outpatient rotations occur at the Ivy Mountain Musculoskeletal Center. Fellows may participate in optional overnight ED coverage (from home) with subspecialty attending backup, bolstering income and maintaining general radiology skills.

Requirements

• MD or equivalent
• Completion of a diagnostic radiology residency at an ACGME-accredited institution or a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)-accredited program
