About the Role

The Youth Support Worker plays a vital role in providing a safe, structured, and therapeutic residential environment for adolescents ages 14–21. Working alongside a dedicated treatment team, you'll help youth build life skills, overcome challenges, and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Resident Care & Supervision: Provide direct care and supervision for up to five residents. Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured living environment. Develop positive, professional relationships with residents.
  • Daily Living Support: Assist with meal preparation and daily living activities. Transport residents to appointments, school, recreational activities, and community outings. Encourage independence and healthy decision-making.
  • Treatment & Behavioral Support: Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans. Support positive behavior management strategies. Collaborate with clinicians and team members to ensure consistent therapeutic care.
  • Documentation & Communication: Complete progress notes, incident reports, and resident documentation accurately. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities. Communicate effectively with supervisors and members of the treatment team.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in a group setting; or
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a non-social work field with six months of I/DD group-setting experience; or
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license.
  • Successfully complete physical and drug screening, criminal background check, FBI fingerprinting, and child abuse clearances.

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with adolescents.
  • Knowledge of autism, intellectual, and developmental disabilities is a plus.
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
