Primary Objective Of Position
To develop, plan, organize and supervise high-quality, district-wide youth recreation and enrichment programs including leagues, clubs, classes, before-school, after-school and summer camps, as well as manage event planning for several small and large community events. Serves as a key leader in delivering diverse programming across sports, recreation, STEM, arts, academics, and community events, and provides leadership and support for Minnetonka Community Education major events.Job Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and oversee classes and programs across recreation and enrichment areas.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff, coaches, instructors, and vendor program providers.
- Manage all operational aspects of youth sports leagues and camps, including hiring referees, player evaluations, team formation, coach recruitment and training, practice and game schedules and site supervision.
- Contract with program providers and manage vendor relationships.
- Assist with program marketing throughout the District and the community.
- Maintain class information on the catalog and website.
- Manage registration and payroll.
- Review and assess program enrollment and class evaluations; provide regular reports to the Recreation Coordinator.
- Communicate regularly with school administrators, office assistants, instructors, service providers, and families.
- Plan and execute events each year. Duties include managing event registration, event logistics and event-day support.
- Plan and implement new programs to meet changing community needs.
- Facilitate and lead on-site programming with youth and adults.
- Support Minnetonka Community Education's major events. This includes mandatory availability for: Tonka Trail Trot in May, Youth Triathlon in May, The annual Tour de Tonka bike ride on the first Saturday in August.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. in recreation, youth development, education, or a related field.
- Evidence of successful experience in program planning, sports league management, or enrichment leadership.
- Evidence of innovation, creativity and self-initiative.
- Evidence of excellent communication, data management, reporting and organizational skills.
- Evidence of the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Evidence of ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to relate well to youth and adults.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, volunteers, community members, vendors, instructors, etc.
- The ability to coordinate programs within budget guidelines.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to become certified).
