Youth Program Education Assistant I - Whitaker PRTF
About the role
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is recruiting for multiple Youth Program Education Assistant I's for all shifts at Whitaker Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) in Butner, NC.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and facilitate daily programming activities for intellectually/developmentally disabled teens and young adults who exhibit extreme behavioral challenges.
- Supervise and ensure safety of individuals.
- Assist in educational and/or vocational programming.
- Facilitate indoor/outdoor leisure activities and encourage participation.
Requirements
- Must be able to pass and maintain all hospital required training during probationary period (including, but not limited to, NCVI/APT, CPR, Fire Safety, etc.).
- Current North Carolina State driver's license.
- Must be available to work all shifts.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in human services or related degree from an appropriately accredited institution.
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of directly related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to pass and maintain all hospital required training during probationary period (including, but not limited to, NCVI/APT, CPR, Fire Safety, etc.).
- Current North Carolina State driver's license.
Benefits
- A Sign-on bonus of $2,500 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.
- Shift Premiums: Day: 5%, Evening: 10% + 5%, Night: 10% + 5%.
Pay
Pay Grade: MH05
Salary Range: $37,558.00 - $56,336.00

Physical Requirements
