About the Role
The Enterostomal Therapy nurse provides acute and rehabilitative care for patients with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. This role involves interpreting general policies, procedures, and instructions, as well as formulating methods and procedures to promote patient safety using the nursing process in ostomy, wound, and skin care.
Responsibilities
- Deliver acute and rehabilitative care for patients with gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary disorders.
- Interpret and apply general policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Develop and implement methods and procedures for patient care.
- Promote patient safety using the nursing process for ostomy, wound, and skin care.
- Perform duties consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Nursing or above (Bachelor's in Nursing preferred).
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
- 4 years of acute care nursing experience.
- American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of an 8-week accredited school of Enterostomal Therapy.
- Certification as an Enterostomal Therapist by the WOCN (Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing).
