Role Overview

A full-time Wound Care Registered Nurse is responsible for conducting comprehensive wound assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and evaluating treatment outcomes. The role includes patient education on wound management, prevention of pressure ulcers, and selection of appropriate therapies. The nurse serves as a resource for physicians, wound teams, and staff, while also performing general nursing duties across departments with supervision. The position supports performance improvement initiatives within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform wound assessment, reassessment, and management for diverse patient populations, including neonates, pediatrics, and geriatrics.
  • Apply current wound management principles to treat acute and chronic wounds.
  • Develop skin care programs to prevent skin breakdown.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff on wound care and prevention strategies.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • Current state RN licensure.
  • At least two years of medical/surgical or rehabilitation nursing experience.
  • Current BLS certification; CWOCN or CWCN certification preferred.
