About the role
Seeking a Lead Wound Care Nurse to serve as a clinical resource, supervise staff, and educate hospital teams on wound, pressure ulcer, ostomy, fistula, and incontinence management. The role involves establishing practice standards, providing direct patient care for evaluation and education, and leading initiatives to prevent hospital-acquired pressure injuries.
Responsibilities
- Develop evidence-based protocols and practice standards
- Provide direct patient care for wound, ostomy, fistula, and incontinence evaluation and education
- Lead initiatives to prevent hospital-acquired pressure injuries
- Monitor patient outcomes and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Advise physicians on wound and ostomy management
- Participate in quality improvement projects
- Manage staff activities and oversee program development
- Ensure compliance with standards and maintain documentation and data reporting
Qualifications
- BSN or progress toward a BSN
- At least two years of experience in wound care
- At least one year of experience in acute care nursing
- Current RN licensure and BLS certification
- Certification as a CWOCN or CWCN within two years of hire
This position requires advanced clinical competence, leadership in program development, and active participation in hospital-wide initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
