Primary Purpose

Support Manor ISD's mission to prepare scholars for life and careers by coordinating workforce-related programs, employer engagement, and career pathways across CTE programs. Operates collaboratively with campuses, community partners, and the Career Certification Center.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning (Before School/Planning Time)

  • Assist in developing and aligning Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathways with in-demand, high-wage occupations.
  • Coordinate outreach with local employers, community colleges (e.g., ACC), and workforce partners to strengthen student access to internships and certifications.
  • Plan and schedule career fairs, guest speakers, site visits, and job shadowing opportunities.
  • One-on-one career advising sessions for students who can only meet early.
  • Coordinate job shadowing, internships, or dual enrollment schedules with local employers or colleges.
  • Prep work for guest speakers, employer site visits, or career events.
  • Collaborate with teachers to align career exploration activities with curriculum goals.
  • Meet with counselors or admin to discuss student progress or career-readiness strategies.

Direct Student Engagement (During School Hours)

  • Host classroom workshops on job readiness topics like resume writing, interview skills, and career exploration.
  • Facilitate career panels or virtual guest speakers representing various industries.
  • Oversee student internships, job shadowing, or work-based learning programs that occur during school hours.
  • Partner with CTE (Career and Technical Education) teachers to support pathway programs with employer connections.
  • Support special education transition planning by helping students with IEPs explore post-secondary work options.
  • Facilitate workshops and classroom sessions on career readiness: resume writing, interview skills, industry certifications.
  • Collaborate with CTE instructors to supplement programs like Health Science, IT, Automotive, and more.
  • Assist students in navigating certification opportunities.

Out-of-School Programming (After School/Evenings)

  • Run after-school career clubs or mentorship programs.
  • Host job fairs, resume clinics, or interview prep workshops in partnership with local businesses.
  • Meet with parents/families to discuss career options and pathways.
  • Coordinate part-time job opportunities for students, including connections with youth employment programs.
  • Develop student career portfolios or help with applications to apprenticeships, jobs, or college.
  • Host drop-in career clubs, industry meetups, or resume clinics.
  • Convene employer networking events or mock interviews in the evenings.
  • Support families and multilingual households by sharing career pathways and opportunities.

Coordination & Data Management

  • Establish partnerships with local employers, workforce boards, and community colleges.
  • Secure guest speakers, mentorship programs, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Collect and track data on student placement, internships, and employment for reporting and improvement.
  • Track and report on student participation, certification completion, and workforce outcomes.
  • Support the Workforce Director with data for program improvement and accountability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (preferably in Education, Workforce Development, or related field).
  • Experience in career advising, workforce development, or CTE coordination.
  • Strong organizational skills and capacity to manage part-time workload across varied hours.
  • Proficient in data tracking and community/industry collaboration.
  • Familiarity with Manor ISD, and local labor market context, is a plus.
