About the role
Work Ready is seeking a driven, outgoing relationship-builder to grow our network of employer partners across the DFW metroplex. As a Transition Developer, you will be on the front lines, walking into businesses, pitching partnerships, and building real relationships that create meaningful work experiences for high school students with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and secure new work experience sites by visiting businesses in person across the DFW metroplex.
- Pitch Work Ready’s no-cost, supported work experience program to business owners and managers.
- Build trust and long-term relationships with employers who host students session after session.
- Educate businesses on program expectations, scheduling (16–20 hours/week, 4-5 days a week), and job coach support.
- Maintain a database of employer contacts, active sites, schedules, and placement history.
- Cook up with internal program staff to ensure placements run smoothly.
- Follow up consistently and professionally to keep partnerships active and growing.
Requirements
- Willingness to drive extensively throughout the DFW metroplex.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.
- Organizational skills (keeping up with all student numbers and schedules) and an ability to work within strict timelines.
- Comfortable working in a commission-based compensation structure.
- Reliable transportation.
- Available during normal business hours.
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Sales, business development, or community outreach experience.
- Workforce development, education, or disability services background.
- Experience in maintaining CRM systems or contact databases.
