Woodworking Bench Hand

About the role

Gravois Planing Mill, one of the oldest architectural woodworking companies in the United States, is actively recruiting a skilled Bench Hand to join our in-house millwork production team. We specialize in high-quality millwork, casework, cabinetry, and custom woodworking for both commercial and residential architectural projects. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on craftsmanship with the ability to accurately interpret architectural drawings and shop plans.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and follow architectural plans, shop drawings, and specifications with precision.
• Build and assemble millwork, casework, and cabinetry to established tolerances and quality standards.
• Prepare components for finishing, verify dimensions, and perform quality checks on completed work.
• Collaborate with management and other production staff to maintain workflow and schedules.
• Operate common woodworking tools and light machinery safely and efficiently.

Requirements

• At least one year of direct experience constructing millwork or casework.
• Comfortable working from architectural plans.
• Attention to detail.
• Reliable attendance.
• Commitment to producing consistent, high-quality woodworking.
