About the Role

If so, we invite you to join our Bakery team as a Bakery Bench Hand. At Festival Foods, our bakery is a vibrant hub where creativity and freshness come together to enhance our guests' special moments and everyday indulgences. As a Bakery Bench Hand, you will play a key role in ensuring our bakery is stocked with fresh, high-quality products and delivering exceptional foodservice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional guest service: greet guests, answer questions, address concerns, and help with their needs
  • Follow recipes and production lists precisely to produce high-quality pastry and bakery items
  • Ensure attention to dates and freshness, handle outdated items properly, and meet high-quality standards
  • Maintain cleanliness in baker prep areas, ensuring all surfaces, tools, and equipment are clean and organized
  • Adhere to Health Department guidelines and Festival Foods sanitation and safety practices, including proper glove use
  • Oversee items on the sales floor, making decisions on what needs to be produced to ensure coverage for the evening
  • Keep cooler, freezer, and dry storage areas clean and organized
  • Assist guests with finding items, taking and executing special orders, and addressing any concerns or issues with products
  • Maintain food safety logs and ensure all quality standards are met, including quantity expectations at 100% by designated times
  • Assist all bakery associates with daily responsibilities and contribute to overall cleanliness and organization of the department
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the team
  • Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences

Qualifications

  • Ability to effectively deal with guests and all personnel
  • Strong understanding of baking and pastry production
  • Knowledge of foodservice operations is essential
  • Follow all safety requirements and company safety policies
  • Proper training and knowledge of bakery equipment and procedures, including ovens, mixers, and slicing machinery

Physical Demands

  • Stand in one spot for a long period of time, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly (70% of time)
  • Full range of upper body motion
  • Lifting up to 60 pounds on a frequent basis (50% of time)
  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures (20% of time)
  • Frequently near moving machinery (70% of time)
  • Repetitive motion of hands and wrists

Schedule

  • Position may be part-time or full-time
  • Work schedule generally includes mornings, afternoons, weekends, and holidays
  • Flexibility to work evenings or overnight as needed
