About the role

Join our Bakery team as a Bakery Bench Hand! Our bakery is a vibrant hub where creativity and freshness come together to enhance our guests' special moments and everyday indulgences. As a Bakery Bench Hand, you will play a key role in ensuring our bakery is stocked with fresh, high-quality products and delivering exceptional foodservice.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional guest service through friendly greetings, answering questions, and addressing concerns with professionalism and care.
• Follow recipes and production lists precisely to produce high-quality pastry and bakery items, ensuring attention to dates and freshness.
• Maintain cleanliness in bakery prep areas, adhering to Health Department guidelines and Festival Foods sanitation and safety practices, including proper glove use.
• Oversee items on the sales floor, making production decisions to ensure coverage for the evening, and keep cooler, freezer, and dry storage areas clean and organized.
• Assist guests with finding items, taking and executing special orders, and addressing product concerns.
• Maintain food safety logs and ensure all quality standards are met, including quantity expectations at 100% by designated times.
• Support bakery associates with daily responsibilities and contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the department.
• Perform other duties as needed to support the team, including regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule.

Requirements

• Ability to effectively interact with guests and all personnel, with a strong understanding of baking and pastry production.
• Knowledge of foodservice operations and adherence to all safety requirements and company policies.
• Proper training and knowledge of bakery equipment and procedures, including ovens, mixers, and slicing machinery.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Stand in one spot for long periods, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly (70% of the time).
• Full range of upper body motion.
• Lifting up to 60 pounds frequently (50% of the time).
• Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures (20% of the time).
• Frequently near moving machinery (70% of the time).
• Repetitive motion of hands and wrists.

Schedule

The Bakery Bench Hand position may be part-time or full-time. The work schedule generally includes mornings, afternoons, weekends, and holidays, with flexibility to work evenings or overnight as needed.
