Overview

This position performs basic dental furniture machining tasks, which include operation of machines under training and supervision. Incumbents set up and operate machines using takt time sheets, standard work, and templates. Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Performs basic machining operations, which may include adapting fixtures and/or CNC programs.
  • Requires set-up of power equipment to obtain the correct size, shape, or finish to print, and requires understanding of the Catia/Cut rite cut-list process.
  • Also expected to perform first article inspection on assigned work.
  • Performs semi-routine machining tasks such as routing, secondary cutting operations, and sanding.
  • Follows written and/or verbal instructions including templates, takt time sheets, method sheets, bill of materials, and production orders.
  • Interprets test results, troubleshoots, and repairs parts not meeting quality standards and function, and refers situations outside of instructions to the unit specialist or supervisor.
  • Achieves and maintains quality and productivity standards, makes recommendations for improvements, follows safety guidelines, and maintains an acceptable dependability level.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, interpret templates and takt time sheet instructions, select cutting tools and machine fixtures, and determine color.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively inspect assigned work and the work of others using metric tape measures and other appropriate measuring tools.
  • Previous computer experience required.
  • Manual dexterity is also required.

Education And Experience

Previous manufacturing experience preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively.
  • Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift.
  • Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration, and/or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
  • Able to wear respiratory protection and comply with OSHA’s respirator use requirements.
