Women's Services Patient Access Representative

About the role

The Patient Access Services Representative reports to the Patient Access Services Supervisor. They provide high-level customer service, facilitate accurate and timely completion of registration, verify and prepare patient accounts for inpatient and outpatient billing, review and verify payment methods, and work with patients to set up payment arrangements and arrange/apply for assistance programs.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate accurate and timely completion of registration for inpatient and outpatient billing
• Verify and prepare patient accounts for billing
• Review and verify all payment methods available (insurance, self-pay, agency)
• Work with patients to set up payment arrangements and arrange/apply for assistance programs
• Assist with scheduling newborn and postpartum appointments and procedures at the MUSC Pearl Tourville Women's Pavilion

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• 1 year of customer service experience

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations
• Previous experience with hospital information systems or word processing
