Welder (Technician/Fabrication)

About the role

Saronic Technologies seeks a skilled and experienced welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding, including certifications in various welding processes.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and follow blueprints and sketches to understand project specifications
• Perform welding tasks using various welding processes and equipment
• Use weld measurement tools and gauges correctly
• Inspect completed welds for conformance to specifications and correct defects if necessary
• Work aloft (on scaffolds or manlifts) and in confined spaces
• Conduct pre-employment skills testing as required
• Assist in the training and development of junior welders
• Collaborate with other trades to maintain efficient work flows
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Represent Saronic professionally and be accountable for HSE results

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of various metals and their welding processes
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with SMAW (Stick), GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux Core), and GMAW-P (multi-pass) processes in 3G and 4G positions
• Experience with stainless steel, Cupro-Nickel, and carbon steel pipe welds (6G)
• Knowledge of structural welding on ship components like hulls, decks, bulkheads, frames, and foundations
• Ability to perform grinding, cutting, and cleaning to prepare work surfaces
• Experience with overhead, vertical, and flat welding in tight or elevated spaces
• Ability to inspect equipment daily and conduct pre-employment skills testing

Qualifications

• Completed carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel fillet and butt weld certifications
• Completed stainless steel, Cupro-Nickel, and carbon steel pipe welds (6G)
• Self-assessment of work quality to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
• Experience with routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools
• Experience with structural welding on ship components
• Experience with grinding, cutting, torching, and pick-up work
• Experience with weld fit-up and tacking according to engineering specifications and welding best practices
• Experience with inspection of all equipment daily
