Welder
L&M Radiator, Inc. is a global designer, manufacturer, and distributor of MESABI cooling and heat transfer solutions custom-made for heavy equipment in the mining, oil, gas, construction, and heavy industrial industries.
About the role
This position works directly with other welders and welding supervisors on a daily basis. You may also collaborate with production engineers, the production manager, and the paint and steel prep departments on shop-related projects. The role involves rotating shifts every other week between days and afternoons.
- Day shift: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Afternoon shift: Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Overtime is possible depending on production needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG and TIG production welding primarily on mild steel, stainless steel, brass, and aluminum.
- Work with the Steel Prep and Paint departments as part of the fabrication and assembly process.
- Observe, guide, and assist with training for beginners and skilled welders.
- Perform basic maintenance on MIG and TIG welding machines.
- Use torches, grinders, drill presses, plasma torches, drills, and other shop equipment.
- Correctly assemble and weld oil cooler frames, radiator frames, and sub-assemblies.
- Collect parts for final assembly and prep for assembly.
- Maintain and care for equipment and tools, including changing gas bottles as required.
- Assist in other areas of production if qualified.
- Perform work safely and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Domestic and international travel may be required depending on the project.
- Perform related work and other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
Requirements
- 18 years or older.
- High School diploma or GED with 1 year of related experience, or completion of a technical college welding course.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
- Follow instructions and read standard procedures (SPs).
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
- Ability to read blueprints, assemblies, and schematics.
- Effective communication in English, both written and verbal.
- Pass a pre-employment written math test, hands-on weld test, physical, drug test, and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-year Welding degree and 3 years of welding experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of Epicor or similar ERP systems.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
- Experience reading SolidWorks blueprints.
Physical Demands
- Wear correct PPE: earplugs, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, and work-provided uniform (gloves when necessary).
- Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Stand on concrete for 8–10 hours.
- Work in high-heat conditions.
- Maintain safe work conditions.

Pay
The hourly range for this role is $21.00 – $35.50. The actual hourly rate may vary based on factors such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location.
