Welder Day Shift

About the role

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a motivated and experienced production welder to join our team. This position engages in the full scope of MIG weld processes on a variety of structural steel, including rigid frame columns, rafters, pipe, beam canopy rafters, small parts, clips, and special assemblies. Welded parts may include thin gauge, painted, or galvanized material. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of welding techniques and a high attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Know and understand all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment.
• Coordinate welder settings, gun speed/travel, and gas flow with observed condition of bead.
• Read a tape measure and blueprints to shop standard.
• Decide when adjustment or gun manipulation needs to be altered.
• Determine how much and what repairs to make for pin holes and burn through caused by auto welder.
• Train and teach proper welding procedures in accordance with manufacturing job procedures.
• Operate overhead crane and other lifting equipment.
• Hold bead to specified shape, size, and penetration while maintaining product quality.
• Maintain numerical and alphabetical sequences correctly.
• Practice continuous improvement in work area.
• While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience welding in a production environment or valid welding certification.
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CWB and AWS welding certification in accordance with Cornerstone Building Brands welding procedures.
• Experience with forklift and/or overhead crane operation is a plus.
• Comfort and familiarity with power hand tools.
• Willingness to train, certify, and operate forklift and overhead crane.
• Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• General mathematical knowledge and proficiency with basic measuring instruments.

Pay

$21.60 per hour, plus a quarterly gainsharing bonus.

Schedule

Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (10 hours) or 5:00 AM – 5:30 PM (12 hours). Overtime is anticipated. This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.
