Responsibilities
- Know and understand all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment.
- Coordinate welder settings, gun speed/travel, and gas flow with the observed condition of the bead.
- Read a tape measure and blueprints to shop standard.
- Determine when adjustment or gun manipulation needs to be altered.
- Decide on the extent and type of repairs needed for pin holes and burn-through caused by an auto welder.
- Train and teach proper welding procedures in accordance with manufacturing job procedures.
- Operate overhead crane and other lifting equipment.
- Hold beads to specified shapes, sizes, and penetrations while maintaining product quality.
- Maintain correct numerical and alphabetical sequences.
- Engage in continuous improvement practices in the work area.
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned by the Team Leader.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school; or 1 to 3 years of working experience in welding; or equivalent combination of education and experience as a welder/fitter in the manufacturing industry.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to read and comprehend documents including policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence.
- Effectively communicate information one-on-one and in small group settings.
- Perform general mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, percentages, and division.
- Use power hand tools and drive a forklift.
- Read different measuring devices (e.g., tape measure, protractor, micrometer).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continually, above shoulder height and below the waist.
Pay
Base pay rate is $21.50 per hour.
Schedule
Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM. This position may require overtime. Shift lengths vary (8, 10, or 12 hours) depending on work orders and season.
