Welcome Services Concierge

Responsibilities

• Greets customers and assesses their immediate needs.
• Manages the first impression of the facility by offering assistance, including helping customers out of their vehicles, locating wheelchairs, providing directions, escorting to destinations, etc.
• Passes customers to volunteers for escorts when possible.
• Utilizes Admitting or other departments to verify destination and remains with the patient if they are alone or in a wheelchair.
• Assists in maintaining smooth traffic flow at facility entrances.
• Arranges parking needs for customers, including valet service, tour buses, and short-term visitors.
• Assists customers with transportation needs, such as taxi vouchers, bus passes, van transport, or other special needs.
• Ensures the working area is clean, safe, and free from obstacles.
• Reports any security or safety issues to the Public Safety Services Department immediately.
• Collaborates with hospital support staff, including Public Safety, Environmental Services, Plant Operations, Patient Transport, and Grounds.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served, including understanding growth and development principles and assessing patient needs based on age-specific data.

Requirements

• High School Graduate.
• Typically requires 1 year of experience in service management as a concierge or greeter in a large public facility.

Skills

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Ability to problem-solve and work independently without direct supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to work a flexible, customer-oriented schedule.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to stand, walk, and/or run throughout the work area approximately 95% of the workday.
• Ability to withstand exposure to weather elements 95% of the workday.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift approximately 50 lbs.
• Ability to communicate with a diverse population of customers.
• Ability to tolerate minimal exposure to odors from auto emissions/gasoline.
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
