About the role

The Governor’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade (“OEDIT”) fosters a positive business climate through support of local and regional economic development activities. The Colorado Tourism Office (CTO) promotes Colorado as a premier U.S. destination for active, outdoor, and unique experiences.

Responsibilities

• Compile monthly visitation reports, as directed by the Director of Visitor Services.
• Operate within a set budget.
• Responsible for operational orders, accounting procedures, and policies.
• Oversee additional staff and Volunteer Travel Counselors.
• Comply with all state policies and procedures.
• Handle freight and storeroom organization.
• Work on feet throughout the day.
• Communicate with contractual maintenance and janitorial staff.
• Respond to tourism industry requests.
• Recruit Volunteer Travel Counselors within the region and local area.
• Record Volunteer Travel Counselor information and maintain record of volunteer hours.
• Understand and uphold Welcome Center policies.
• Manage the schedule and ensure adequate coverage of the Welcome Center.
• Advise travelers on Colorado’s tourism industry, geography, road, and weather conditions.
• Order, receive, and display travel literature.
• Prepare and present trainings for Volunteer Travel Counselors.
• Carry out research, organize, and execute volunteer enhancement events.
• Organize and attend volunteer recruitment events.
• Maintain technology devices within the center and provide on-site troubleshooting.
• Occasionally travel in-state for meetings.

Requirements

• Self-starter with strong leadership abilities and a positive attitude.

• Flexible schedule.
• Excellent proficiency in Google Apps, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Able to lift up to 30 pounds and work on feet throughout the day.
• Able to work alternating holidays and occasional weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent 4 years experience in hospitality, project management, guest relations, administration, or office management.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
