Web Optimization Specialist (SEO/GEO)

About the role

Big Apple Greeter is a small non-profit organization that has been welcoming visitors to NYC since 1992 by offering them free 4‑hour visits to a neighborhood of their choice with volunteers who know it well. We are seeking a data‑driven, detail‑oriented Volunteer Web Optimization Specialist to enhance our digital footprint.

Responsibilities

• Bridge the gap between traditional Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and the emerging world of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO).
• Educate staff and work with them to update web pages using Squarespace so travelers can easily discover our free services—whether they are searching on Google or asking AI engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity.

Requirements

• Data‑driven and detail‑oriented mindset.
• Mid‑level professional or talented freelancer.
• Experience with SEO, GEO, and Squarespace.
• Ability to educate and train staff.
• Familiarity with AI‑powered search engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity.
