About the role

Howmet Aerospace’s Wichita Falls, TX facility has an opening for Wax B Operator. This role is responsible for pattern inspection, pattern sub-assembly, mold assembly, including gating into finished molds, pinner/robot, and engraving.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection of all patterns and decide to accept, repair or scrap the part per documented instructions.
  • Follow established protocol for notification of potential deviations or scrap trends.
  • Set up dimensional gauges and dimensionally inspect cores and wax patterns using supplied gauging to specified tolerances.
  • Utilize fixturing or gauges to assure dimensional conformance of the pattern/mold to specified tolerances.
  • Prepare sprues as required and locate ceramic bracing per engineering specifications.
  • Attach the pattern to the gating and seal per the specified method.
  • Perform seal operations as specified.
  • Perform dip seal operations as specified ensuring that the gates are sealed on the mold but are not over dipped.
  • Perform sub-assembly of multiple airfoil patterns.
  • Torch sprues, seal and pour cup. Add bracing as required per engineering specifications.
  • Set up equipment as required to perform specific activities.
  • Operate pinner/robot and perform all operations associated with it, paying close attention to detail.
  • Maintain necessary supplies for the area to maximize productivity.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Comply with all EHS rules related to the work environment.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Follow 5S rules and procedures.
  • Use help chain when needed.

Requirements

  • MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 12 HOUR ROTATING NIGHT SHIFTS, 6:48 P.M TO 6:48 A.M. (2 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off, 2 on 3 off)

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Basic Computer Skills: Must be able to read and interpret Product Criteria (PC) and Activity Instructions (AI).
  • Must be able to function as a member of a team and be able to work under general supervision.
  • Must be able to maintain expected quality levels.
  • Must comply with all site required policies and procedures including but not limited to: EHS, Quality, Code of Conduct and the Wichita Falls Employee Handbook.

Pay

Pay rate begins at $21.26 and tops out at $25.82 at 9 months. All offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Schedule

  • 12 hour rotating night shifts, 6:48 P.M TO 6:48 A.M. (2 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off, 2 on 3 off)

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Responsibilities

  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report all job-related illness and injuries (Per Employee Handbook).
  • Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EHS training.

Physical Demands & Equipment Used

  • Employee is required to execute the following: Stair climbing, reaching near, far and overhead, pushing/pulling, twisting and handling, lifting >5 Lbs., carrying items with two hands, carrying items with one hand, squatting/crouching/bending, working in an air-conditioned area, slight exposure to chemicals, fumes, oil, dust, noise and heat or cold.
