Responsibilities

  • Lead Business Development efforts by promoting the hydraulic department’s services to new and existing clients
  • Manage hydraulic workload, staff, and schedules
  • Lead hydraulic design of stream crossings, drainage systems and erosion control for a wide range of transportation-related projects
  • Manage hydrologic and hydraulic modeling in HEC-RAS for bridges and culverts
  • Prepare MOA, CLOMR and LOMR packages
  • Manage hydraulic analyses and oversee report generation
  • Oversee project/contracting scoping, fee development, contract negotiations, and execution
  • Attend public meetings and presentations as needed
  • Train support staff and review work
  • Afford assistance with project pursuits in providing technical expertise on proposals and marketing meetings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology with a minimum of 10 years of progressive hydraulic design experience
  • PE license in NC or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling with step backwater programs (HEC-RAS)
  • Experience in drainage design, stormwater management practices and regulations, and erosion control designs
  • Knowledge of NCDOT design standards and practices and experience in project development workflow
  • Proactive and self-motivated attitude
  • Strong engineering analysis and judgment
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience in staff and project management
  • Experience managing and training support staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively
