Responsibilities
- Lead Business Development efforts by promoting the hydraulic department’s services to new and existing clients
- Manage hydraulic workload, staff, and schedules
- Lead hydraulic design of stream crossings, drainage systems and erosion control for a wide range of transportation-related projects
- Manage hydrologic and hydraulic modeling in HEC-RAS for bridges and culverts
- Prepare MOA, CLOMR and LOMR packages
- Manage hydraulic analyses and oversee report generation
- Oversee project/contracting scoping, fee development, contract negotiations, and execution
- Attend public meetings and presentations as needed
- Train support staff and review work
- Afford assistance with project pursuits in providing technical expertise on proposals and marketing meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology with a minimum of 10 years of progressive hydraulic design experience
- PE license in NC or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment
- Advanced knowledge of and experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling with step backwater programs (HEC-RAS)
- Experience in drainage design, stormwater management practices and regulations, and erosion control designs
- Knowledge of NCDOT design standards and practices and experience in project development workflow
- Proactive and self-motivated attitude
- Strong engineering analysis and judgment
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience in staff and project management
- Experience managing and training support staff
- Ability to work collaboratively
