Warehouse Operations Manager- Corporate Commissary
Role Summary
The Warehouse Operations Manager leads day-to-day warehouse operations for the commissary, including receiving, inventory control, material handling, storage, fulfillment, facility standards, and cross-functional coordination. This role is responsible for ensuring raw materials and finished goods move through the operation accurately, safely, and efficiently while supporting production, quality, and customer service objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving, Inspection & Inventory Control
Oversee inbound receiving processes, including unloading, verifying quantities and item details against purchase orders and shipping documents, and resolving discrepancies promptly
Designate and manage a warehouse inspection and hold area for newly received product pending cycle count confirmation, discrepancy review, or Quality Control approval
Maintain accurate inventory records across raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods through disciplined put-away, cycle counts, and reconciliation practices
Material Handling Equipment & Warehouse Safety
Demonstrate hands-on experience with material handling equipment, including forklifts, power jacks, pallet jacks, and related warehouse tools used for receiving, storage, replenishment, and shipping
Support equipment selection, safe operating practices, inspection routines, and preventive maintenance coordination to keep warehouse operations running efficiently
Train and coach team members on proper equipment use, traffic flow, load handling, and safe work habits to protect people, product, and facility assets
Warehouse Organization, Storage & Fulfillment
Maintain clear aisle, rack, bin, and location labeling systems that support accurate inventory tracking, put-away, replenishment, and picking execution
Apply sound storage practices for short-term and long-term inventory, with clear understanding of raw material handling, staging requirements, and finished goods storage and movement
Lead e-commerce pick, pack, and ship operations, including bin-based picking, batch picking methods, packing station workflow, and selection of equipment needed to execute fulfillment efficiently and accurately
Quality, Facility Management & Operational Standards
Partner with Quality Control to hold, inspect, release, or escalate inbound materials and finished goods issues while maintaining lot traceability and documentation standards
Manage facility-related warehouse needs, including daily cleaning standards, waste and garbage disposal, organization of work areas, and vendor coordination for services and support
Ensure warehouse processes, staging areas, and operating conditions consistently support safety, cleanliness, compliance, and readiness for production and fulfillment demands
People Leadership & Team Management
Lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of Shipping and Receiving Leads and Specialists responsible for day-to-day warehouse execution
Own recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training processes to build a capable, reliable warehouse team aligned to operational needs
Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and development support while creating clear expectations, standard work, and growth opportunities for team members
Create schedules, allocate labor, and plan coverage based on inbound volume, fulfillment demand, staffing needs, and business priorities
Cross-Functional Partnership & Execution
Work cross-functionally with the on-site Production Manager and partner closely with corporate teams including Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing, E-Commerce, IT, and other departments to support business priorities
Cross-coordinate warehouse priorities, inventory status, fulfillment readiness, and operational needs across teams to ensure smooth execution and timely issue resolution
Success Measures
Receiving accuracy, timely put-away, and purchase order discrepancy resolution
Inventory accuracy, cycle count performance, and location control across raw materials and finished goods
Pick, pack, and ship accuracy, throughput, and on-time fulfillment performance
Warehouse safety, housekeeping, and equipment readiness standards
Cross-functional execution, issue resolution, and readiness to support production and customer demand
Team staffing, training completion, schedule coverage, and development of leads and specialists
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or Business preferred
Equivalent inventory or warehouse management experience considered
Experience
3–6+ years of warehouse, inventory, logistics, or fulfillment leadership experience in a distribution, manufacturing, or e-commerce environment
Hands-on experience with receiving, put-away, storage, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation across raw materials and finished goods
Experience in e-commerce or high-volume fulfillment operations with knowledge of pick, pack, ship workflows, batch picking, and packing station execution
Practical experience operating or overseeing material handling equipment and training others on safe, effective equipment usage
Experience working cross-functionally with quality, product, supply chain, operations, and corporate support teams to drive execution and solve operational issues
Experience leading frontline warehouse teams, including team leads and specialists, with responsibility for hiring, scheduling, performance management, and development
Industry & Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of warehouse layout, aisle and rack labeling, bin/location control, and inventory tracking practices
Knowledge of receiving controls, inspection hold processes, lot traceability, and quality support requirements in a warehouse environment
Familiarity with warehouse management systems, ERP tools, scanners, and operational reporting used to manage locations, movement, and fulfillment accuracy
Understanding of equipment selection and maintenance considerations, storage methods for short-term and long-term inventory, and warehouse housekeeping standards
Leadership & Skills
Highly organized operator with strong attention to detail, process discipline, and ownership of warehouse standards
Ability to lead through structure and speed while maintaining accuracy, safety, and service levels in a fast-moving warehouse environment
Strong trainer and coach who can build capability across receiving, material handling, storage, and fulfillment processes
Demonstrated ability to recruit strong talent, build team capability, and lead through accountability, coaching, and consistent follow-through
Effective cross-functional partner who communicates clearly with on-site and corporate stakeholders to align priorities and resolve issues
Practical problem-solver with the ability to identify workflow gaps, improve warehouse organization, and drive operational consistency
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout a warehouse environment for extended periods
Ability to lift and move materials and products consistent with warehouse operations requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation
Ability to work around warehouse equipment, storage racks, shipping areas, and varying temperatures or environmental conditions typical of warehouse operations
