About the role
The Warehouse Operations Manager oversees and coordinates the day-to-day activities in the distribution center to ensure productivity, safety, expenses, budget goals are met, inventory is properly maintained and accurate, and to ensure the deliveries to member stores are accurate and timely.
Responsibilities
- Establish operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of merchandise, keeping of warehouse inventory, and to ensure timely receiving and shipment of product to meet the demands and needs of the members.
- Assign workers specific duties, such as verifying amounts of and storing incoming merchandise and assembling customer orders for delivery.
- Direct reclamation of damaged merchandise.
- Review billing for incoming merchandise and customer orders in order to plan work activities.
- Maintain and improve the productivity and efficiency of the warehouse operation.
- Oversee the warehouse safety programs.
- Train and develop supervisors in all aspects of warehousing.
- Increase production and effectively utilize the workforce to maximize efficiency and reduce warehouse operating expenses.
- Monitor disciplinary steps taken by warehouse supervision to ensure proper steps are followed.
- Communicate to the Director of Distribution problem areas, improvements, etc., regarding the warehouse center’s operation.
- Responsible for seeing that state, federal and AWG safety, sanitation, and governmental policies, laws and regulations are maintained and adhered to.
- Oversee the resolution of employee complaints or grievances to facilitate a proper resolution.
Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience: Degree or equivalent; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Languages Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
