About the role
The Mattress Warehouse is seeking a Warehouse Lead for their High Point, NC location. The primary responsibilities include leading, coaching, and managing associates in the receiving shift, enforcing company policies, and improving employee performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, motivate, and manage associates in assigned department
- Train, guide, and evaluate new warehouse workers
- Enforce company policies
- Motivate associates to improve productivity
- Measure and report the effectiveness of warehousing activities and employees’ performance
- Improve associate morale
- Communicate job expectations and coach employees
- Partner with other departments and coordinate activities
- Work with management teams to observe disciplinary issues, attendance, and performance of direct reports
- Communicate position expectations and train employees
- Define staffing needs and allocate workload
- Implement new methods, processes, and improvements
- Become efficient in STORIS, DISPATCHTRACK, and other programs/software including Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of conventional management and warehousing fundamentals
- Hands-on dedication to staff training and championing new ideas
- Work with leadership team to reduce damages
- Willingness to work any shift necessary to cover vacations, open positions, volume spikes, etc.
- Determine and track most important warehouse KPIs
- Ensure efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment
- Ensure optimal utilization of all space within warehouse
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Assist with quarterly inventory
- Assign and schedule associates accordingly
- Comply with all safety standards and guidelines (OSHA)
- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with all associates and vendors
- Develop and recommend improvements in current warehouse procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, safety and lower costs
- Work extended hours as needed
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training (basic HR duties)
Requirements
- Management or supervisory leadership experience (a plus)
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Knowledge of Material Handling Equipment (a plus)
- Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience with MS Excel, Word and Outlook
- Experience with RF Guns and Inventory management systems
- Excellent attendance
- Time management and multi-tasking skills
Qualifications
- High school or equivalent (preferred)
- 2 years of experience in distribution operations (preferred)
- Driver's License (preferred)
