VP, New York City Ad Sales

About the Role
The Vice President will manage all aspects of advertising sales for New York City Interconnect including coaching, developing staff, implementing sales strategies, managing inventory, forecasting revenue, and recruiting and retaining top sales talent. This key leadership role will also oversee account management and relationships with key clients. The Vice President of Sales is ultimately responsible for revenue generation for the New York City interconnect with the overall goal to achieve revenue targets for each property independently. This position will be responsible for budgeting and forecasting; inventory pricing and control; strategies/policies; with the overall goal of achieving and exceeding competitive market share.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and insights to assess, develop, and implement long-term and short-term sales strategies and plans that impact Spectrum Reach's ability to achieve revenue targets.
- Develop the sales strategies and objectives to increase Spectrum Reach’s share of advertising spend in the market through sponsorship sales and by including the advanced media platform opportunities.
- Develop expansion opportunities for sales across the Spectrum Reach footprint. Work with local sales leaders as needed to identify and grow opportunities.
- Responsible for recruiting, training, and coaching local sales staff; actively coach and work with Sales Leadership and Account Executives to strengthen their selling skills; accompany Sales team members on sales calls. Create development plans and review on a regular basis.
- Provide effective and inspiring leadership across the team for both sales and non-sales functions.
- Monitor, forecast, and actively manage the price of spot inventory to maximize sellout and drive revenues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with large advertising agencies and major clients using strong verbal/written communication skills and meeting on a regular basis.
- Accurately forecast revenue throughout the year & meet or exceed monthly, quarterly & annual budgets.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the market, competition, and respond effectively.
- Supervise sales staff in packaging, negotiating, and selling of company media sales opportunities.
- Work with leaders of Operations, Finance, Marketing, HR, and Product to ensure alignment and integration of sales strategy with resources, products and services, and infrastructure.
- Ongoing development and implementation of sales systems, accountability standards, and best practices.
- Lead workforce planning. Invest in the long-term development of current and emerging leaders through mentoring, coaching, and continuous feedback.
- Maintain a high level of visibility and professionalism in the community and with clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with agencies, prospects, and customers to position Spectrum Reach as the partner of choice.
- Identify, develop, and cultivate new business opportunities/new channels for Business Development and revenue generation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 12+ years in related media management and/or advertising sales experience, with a proven successful track record of meeting and exceeding goals.
- 5+ years of Sales leadership experience.
- Proven track record of inspiring and building client strategy teams.
- Deep knowledge of advertising infrastructure, ad operations, data analytics, yield analysis, advanced Digital media platforms, Interactive Media, DRTV, client & relationship development.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Critical thinking, problem-solving, and superior customer focus.
- Strong strategic, interpersonal, communication, collaboration, presentation, and time-management skills and ability to execute initiatives within the team and company as well as customers.
- Strong influencer with experience working with a distributed sales team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced degree, such as an MBA, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Pay
The base pay for this position generally is between $250,000.00 and $280,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses. In addition, this position has a commission earnings target starting at $100,000 to $120,000.
