About the role
The Vice President of Growth is responsible for defining and executing LegalZoom's end-to-end growth strategy—accelerating customer acquisition and retention across organic discovery (SEO/AEO), paid media, lifecycle engagement, and marketing technology infrastructure.
This role sits at the intersection of Marketing, Product, Finance, Data, and Technology, ensuring alignment between how LegalZoom attracts customers, converts demand, deepens relationships, and scales efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Translate company-level strategy into a clear, integrated growth roadmap across acquisition and retention
- Partner closely with the CMO and senior cross-functional leaders across Marketing, Product, Finance, Data, Engineering, and Customer Experience to drive full-funnel growth
- Align paid, organic, lifecycle, and product-led initiatives into a unified operating model
- Accelerate acquisition of established businesses as a core pillar of LegalZoom’s three-year strategy
- Act as a senior cross-functional leader and trusted advisor, aligning stakeholders around shared growth goals
- Build, lead, and develop high-performing teams across Paid Media, SEO/AEO, Lifecycle, and Marketing Technology
- Own performance marketing strategy across Search, Social, Display, Affiliates, Partnerships, and emerging channels
- Optimize capital allocation using incrementality testing, marketing mix modeling, and advanced attribution frameworks
- Improve creative velocity and testing through AI-enabled tools and automation
- Identify and scale new acquisition channels aligned to both startup and established business segments
- Continuously improve efficiency, scalability, and measurable ROI across performance investments
- Own organic acquisition strategy across traditional SEO and AI-native discovery environments
- Lead AI Engine Optimization efforts, ensuring LegalZoom is surfaced in AI Overviews, generative search results, and large language model citations
- Partner with Product and Engineering to embed structured data, technical SEO excellence, and AI-readiness into site architecture
- Build scalable, intent-driven content frameworks aligned to high-value customer segments
- Refine measurement systems for AI visibility, citation share, and organic contribution to revenue
- Own lifecycle strategy across onboarding, activation, cross-sell, renewals, and subscription engagement
- Improve retention and lifetime value through behavioral segmentation, personalization, and automation
- Develop tailored lifecycle programs for established businesses to increase engagement and expansion revenue
- Ensure seamless connection between acquisition messaging and post-purchase customer experience
- Partner with Product to reduce churn and improve activation for high-value cohorts
- Leverage and implement AI solutions to improve operational efficiency and marketing performance
- Embed AI into creative development, media optimization, content production, predictive modeling, and segmentation
- Automate workflows to increase speed-to-market and reduce cost-to-serve
- Establish governance and performance standards for responsible AI usage
- Build internal capabilities that enable teams to operate faster, test more rapidly, and scale efficiently
- Create stronger connections between paid, organic, lifecycle, and product channels so they operate as one cohesive growth engine
- Align data, messaging, and targeting across channels to drive compounding performance
- Ensure audience portability and consistent measurement across paid and owned environments
- Own the marketing technology stack, including CRM/CDP, analytics, experimentation platforms, and attribution systems
- Develop unified dashboards and reporting frameworks to provide visibility into growth performance and investment impact
Requirements
- 12+ years of growth or performance marketing leadership experience with full-funnel ownership
- Proven track record scaling multi-channel acquisition while improving efficiency and lifetime value
- Deep expertise in paid media, SEO, lifecycle marketing, and marketing technology
- Demonstrated experience leveraging AI to drive measurable operational and performance gains
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing significant marketing investment
- Experience accelerating growth across multiple customer segments, including established businesses
- Data-informed leader with comfort defining metrics and building measurement frameworks
- Proven ability to build and scale high-performing teams
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership and executive communication skills
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Computer Science, or related field
- Proven success in leading complex, multi-channel marketing strategies

Pay
The salary range for this role is $216,000 - $345,600. Actual compensation offered will depend on several factors including but not limited to: geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, and/or other business and organizational needs.
Schedule
This hybrid position will work remotely as well as onsite in our Sherman Oaks or Mountain View offices.
