Volunteer: Strategic Communications Plan & Stakeholder Messaging Framework
About the role
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. The challenge we would like to address is developing a cohesive communications strategy and clear messaging framework for Africa Future Gateway, Inc. (AFG). While AFG is established as a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity headquartered in Washington, D.C., our outreach currently lacks structured narrative positioning to effectively communicate our mission across multiple audiences—including international institutional partners, diaspora networks, local beneficiaries, and prospective donors. Without unified messaging guidelines, an editorial schedule, and distinct communication channels mapped to each audience segment, it is challenging to build sustained public engagement and institutional credibility. To ground this work, we can hand over our foundational organizational documents, including our approved 501(c)(3) mission statements, corporate bylaws, foundational program briefs on our education and workforce training focus areas, executive leadership bios, and initial website and LinkedIn copy. The volunteer will not have to discover who we are from scratch; their focus will be synthesizing these core governance and mission assets into polished external messaging pillars, distinct audience value propositions, and an operational communications roadmap. By the end of this project, the consultant will deliver a complete Strategic Communications Plan and Core Messaging Guide tailored to our international mission. AFRICA FUTURE GATEWAY INC. Mission: Our core mission is to provide instruction and training to improve professional capabilities, establish talent development and educational programs, support health-related education and services, and foster international partnerships that drive sustainable community development and workforce readiness. We bridge international developmental initiatives with robust U.S. institutional frameworks to empower communities globally.
