Volunteer: Accounting Audit for an Art Project in Brooklyn, NY
About the Role
We are seeking a volunteer to perform an external audit of our nonprofit’s accounts. Our total income and expenses are under $25K, and we file a 990 EZ postcard. The audit aims to qualify us for grants and foundations that require an audit as part of their application process, helping us become more financially sustainable.
The audit will include a financial statement audit with a compliance assessment. Our accounts are straightforward, as we do not have payroll or complex financial structures.
Responsibilities
- Conduct a financial statement audit for a small nonprofit with income/expenses under $25K.
- Perform a compliance assessment to ensure eligibility for grant and foundation applications.
- Review organized documentation, including monthly receipts, Google Spreadsheet accounting records, and bank activity for the year.
About the Organization
Gallery Particulier is a Brooklyn-based gallery offering an alternative model to share art with the community. We stage exhibitions and create accessible programs featuring local contemporary artists, fostering meaningful connections between artists and the public. Our core activity involves placing artists’ work in people’s homes and non-traditional spaces, with a focus on underserved communities.
