Visiting Program Administrator, Health and Community Wellness

Job Purpose

The Visiting Program Administrator, Health and Community Wellness serves as a full-time 12-month academic professional and has the primary responsibility for providing oversight, leadership, and supervision for grant projects and special initiatives within the Center for Food Systems, Nutrition Security, and Health Integration and the broader Health and Community Wellness team at the University of Illinois Extension.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public health, community health, family and consumer science, nutrition, human development, or related field.
• Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in progress may be considered for interviews, but degree must be completed by hire date.
• Two (2) years of experience facilitating and guiding the work of teams.
• Experience meeting project goals and deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Experience with University of Illinois Extension.
• Experience in direct supervision.
• Experience supporting a remote workforce.

Specific Job Information

• Two full-time positions are available.
• Location: Urbana-Champaign Campus.
• In-state hybrid remote work arrangements are available.
• This is a security-sensitive position.
• Comprehensive background checks, including but not limited to a criminal conviction information check, a CANTS check, and a review of the Registered Sex Offender list, will be conducted.

Job Responsibilities

Program Oversight, Leadership and Direction

• Provide oversight, leadership, and direction to grant projects and special initiatives.
• Actively recruit and hire staff to fill vacancies in coordination with Center leadership.
• Maintain monitoring staff program delivery to support program outreach efforts and deliverables.
• Provide guidance and feedback to staff on performance improvement.
• Participate in and reinforce content from staff trainings.
• Establish feedback mechanisms to gather perspectives, advice, and recommendations related to all aspects of the grant projects or special initiatives.
• Use information to implement any necessary changes to current programming.
• Provide leadership and assist with marketing Extension outreach efforts and programming to targeted populations, organizations, and agencies, to grow and expand programming efforts.
• Aid staff with gathering program participant demographic information to ensure compliance with civil rights reporting requirements.
• Work with the Center and HCW Leadership team to ensure optimal onboarding, programming, and program support.

Supervision

• Provide supervision of all assigned staff in adherence to University of Illinois Extension/ACES guidelines.
• Provide leadership in coordinating the logistics and activities for program tasks, such as travel, equipment, and supplies.
• Meet with the team and individual staff on a regular basis to provide guidance on performance and program implementation.
• Review and approve staff work hours and calendars.
• Monitor and approve program expenses in keeping with the grant and Extension budget guidelines.

Other Information

• Comply with all reporting deadlines and requirements (e.g., plans-of-work, activity, and impact reporting, etc.).
• Perform other duties that contribute to the mission of University of Illinois Extension programming, as assigned.
• Local, regional, statewide, and (limited) interstate travel required.
