Visiting Assistant Professor, Mathematics
About the role
New College of Florida invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Mathematics starting in August 2026. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach undergraduate courses in pure and applied mathematics. The teaching load is two courses per semester plus sponsoring individual and group tutorials, independent study projects, and senior theses.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in pure and applied mathematics
- Teach two courses per semester
- Sponsor individual and group tutorials, independent study projects, and senior theses
- Prepare and deliver lectures and engage in classroom discussions
- Participate in departmental meetings and committee work
- Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative teaching methods
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in mathematics is required
- Expertise in applied mathematics is preferred, but strong candidates in any area of mathematics will be considered
- A demonstrated commitment to innovative undergraduate liberal arts teaching is particularly valued
Qualifications
- Strong background in mathematics
- Ability to teach a variety of undergraduate mathematics courses
- Experience with innovative teaching methods
