Visiting Assistant Instructional Professor of Teacher Education
About the role
The University of Florida invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Instructional Professor position to work within the Elementary and Secondary Education program areas in the School of Teaching and Learning. The successful applicant for this position is expected to teach social studies and general education courses and support online course development and delivery within the Teachers, Schools, & Society Program. This 9-month non-tenure-accruing faculty appointment will begin August 2026.
Responsibilities
- Teach (face-to-face, blended, and/or online) courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Participate in program meetings and planning activities.
Requirements
- Candidates shall have received the academic degree appropriate to the assignment of duties, or equivalent experiences or accomplishments in the field may be substituted.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in social studies, elementary, or secondary education, or closely related fields (ABD will be considered as long as doctorate is conferred by start date).
- Minimum of three years of K – 12 public/private teaching experience.
- Knowledge of the field of teacher education.
- Commitment to collegial and collaborative work in teacher education programs.
- Evidence of collaboration with faculty, students, and other stakeholders.
Preferred
- Expertise in the field of social studies education.
- Experience designing and delivering high quality instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
- Demonstrated potential to collaborate in practitioner inquiry (publications, externally funded projects, etc.).
- Record of excellence in teaching and/or mentoring students in higher education contexts.
- Active participation in teacher education professional organizations.
- Knowledge of Florida teaching and content standards.
